Hello!

My name is Jason Shamesman. My love for photography began at the age of 16, when I began taking photos of the ocean, flowers, and birds on my iPod Touch, pulling the saturation and contrast sliders all the way to the right to create pictures that were completely crazy-looking, yet unique! Today, I carry that same creative energy with me as a freelance photographer, video producer, and drone pilot.

My professional journey began when I accepted a full time role as a video producer for a market research firm, where I traveled across the world to film interviews and focus groups for over 5 years. Around 2020, I had my first experience with freelance work and in 2022 I made the transition to freelancing full time. I am so grateful for the experience I gained in my first role, as it has led me to this way of working, which I have found to be such an incredible fit for me both personally and professionally. The freedom to connect and work with clients one-on-one, building relationships and growing together, and being able to choose how and where to allocate my creative efforts, has been invaluable!

Currently, my day-to-day work consists of real estate photography, video work, and aerial photography. As a creative who is constantly on the lookout for new opportunities to grow, I have also been exploring headshots, food photography, branding videos, and other exciting areas!

Are you interested in working together? Curious how I would approach a specific type of project? Maybe you’d just like to say hello? Please reach out!

Ask any of my clients, or take a look at my 5-star reviews on Google, and you’ll see that my experitise behind the camera is only half the picture. The short answer is yes! The longer answer is that weddings have not been at the forefront of my career, though this has changed in a very short span of time. As I write this in January 2025, the last 6 months have included one pre-wedding photo shoot, one town hall post-wedding photo shoot, multiple drone video shoots, and just a few months ago I filmed my first wedding as a 2nd shooter with the incredible wedding videographer Caterina Masia (Insta/website). You may check out my reel here!

FAQs | Real Estate Photography

I love connecting with realtors and helping them sell homes!

I offer a number of REP services including photography, video tours, 2D and 3D floor plans, drone photography, virtual staging, and twilight photography. Some services are offered in a package, whereas others are offered as add-ons. View my real estate photography pricing here!

Photos, floor plans, and drone photography are typically ready the following business day. Orders requiring more advanced edits, such as video tours, virtual staging, or object removal, typically take two business days.

In order to accommodate special requests, I occasionally need to apply extra fees. Nobody likes fees, so I truly try my best to avoid these extra fees when possible. My priority is balancing the need to sustain my business while delivering quality, personalized work.

The list below includes common scenarios where I might add a fee to the order.

  • Sky replacement: I will replace photos with overcast, dull skies with blue sunny skies ($25)
  • Same-day booking: if my schedule allows, I will shoot your listing the same day ($50)
  • Travel: covers fuel and tolls for listings more than 30 miles from Newmarket, NH ($2.50/additional mile)
  • Large home: applies when floor plans exceed 5,000 sq ft in total scanned area ($100)
  • Cancellation: bookings cancelled the same day ($100)
  • Return fee: second trip to the property ($50 + any travel fees)
  • Same day turnaround: photos delivered the same day they are taken ($150)

I get it! Some listings seem like the type that wouldn’t benefit from aerial photography. However, I have repeatedly provided drone photography to realtors who were skeptical, yet ultimately amazed by how much value drone photography provides! Drones allow you to show a home’s design, unique features, and location in ways that are simply impossible to convey any other way. With a drone, nearby lakes, hiking trails,  schools, parks, and downtown areas are suddenly visible, empowering potential homebuyers with context surrounding the home’s location and surrounding areas. Photos taken on the ground are missing the big picture, and screenshots from Google Maps just don’t cut it. Incorporating drone photography into MLS and into your marketing will elevate (pun intended) your listing above others and will get more clicks, meaning more tours and faster sales!

If you are absolutely sure you do not want drone photography, if your listing happens to be in a no-fly zone (e.g. very close to an airport), or if the weather is not appropriate for drone flight, I will simply reduce $20 from the order’s total.

There are a number of things I do when I arrive at the listing to prepare the home for photos. While these can add a bit of time to the job, they will result in awesome photos that best represent your listing! I usually do these myself, but if you and/or the seller are able to get a head start on some of these, awesome!

General

  • turn all lights on
  • open window blinds (unless there’s a good reason to keep them shut, e.g. to hide a dumpster)
  • turn all fans off
  • hide private belongings (e.g. family photos, car keys, etc)
  • put away any pet supplies (e.g. food bowls, dog bed, litter box, cage, etc)

Bedrooms

  • tidy up bedsheets and pillows
  • declutter bedside tables (e.g. phone chargers, jewelry, etc)
  • close closets

Bathrooms

  • put toilet seats down
  • roll up toilet paper neatly
  • close shower curtains
  • clear vanity of clutter (e.g. tissue box, soap bars, toothbrushes, hand towels, etc)

Kitchen

  • clear counter of clutter (e.g. dirty dishes, excess appliances, etc)
  • clear sink of clutter (e.g. dish soap, sponge, etc)

Dining Room

  • arrange chairs neatly
  • declutter table (e.g. bright/distracting placemats)

Living Room

  • ensure tables and couches are centered and aligned with each other
  • declutter TV console (e.g. excess remote controls, magazines, etc)

Exterior

  • declutter lawn (e.g. branches, garden hose, etc)
  • move cars out of driveway

Every listing is different but here is a breakdown of what a photoshoot typically looks like!

  1. I arrive and park my car someplace that will not be in the photos/video
  2. Carry my gear into listing, greet seller and/or listing agent
  3. Do a walkaround to familiarize myself with layout of the property
  4. Ensure all lights are on, toilet seats are down, remove/hide minor clutter, etc
  5. Begin capturing photos, typically starting on the top floor and working my way down
  6. Photograph exteriors of property
  7. If doing video, repeat steps 5 and 6 with my video setup
  8. Scan property to create floor plan
  9. Launch drone and capture aerial photos/video
  10. That’s a wrap! Thank seller and/or listing agent and head out

My Simple Brilliance photo package generally takes about an hour, whereas my Ultimate Showcase video package takes closer to 2 hours.

The majority of my real estate work happens around the Seacoast of New Hampshire. I do occasionally head up into the Lakes Region, as well as Southern Maine and Northern Massachusetts. Please see my travel fee breakdown above under “Do you charge extra fees.” I love traveling and experiencing new areas, so if you understand my travel fee and would like me to shoot a listing that is well outside the NH Seacoast area, there’s a good chance I will say yes!

Please do not feel obligated to join me! I am more than happy to photograph a listing solo, whether I am completely alone or with the sellers. Sometimes it is helpful to have someone there to help move clutter, stage the home, turn on lights, etc. But that is not a necessity, and I work very well independently!

Most of the realtors I have worked with have previously used other photographers. Each real estate photographer is unique in how they photograph homes, their pricing, turnaround time, communication style, gear used, delivery format, etc. My approach is my own. I will always be eager to hear your feedback and personal preferences to maximize the value of my services to you, but I will not fundamentally change my workflow or adjust my pricing and services to mimic previous photographers you have worked with.

From the surface, the fast-paced environment of real estate photography can seem unfulfilling to someone like me who values connections and creativity in my work! But in the two years since I got into REP, it has become some of the most fulfilling work I do. As someone who was house hunting not too long ago, that first Zillow photo can be that magical spark that catches your attention. So it is an absolute privilege to be the one behind the camera photographing homes and crafting those photos and video tours that create those sparks, whether for those about to make their first major purchase of their lives, or for people seeking their forever home!
